When I hit publish on the last post, I had no idea what was in store for me. It’s been 12 days, but it feels like so much longer. That weekend was incredibly stressful and rough, (though no details will be shared here because it isn’t my story to tell) and it led into a week-long visit to Washington DC to visit a friend.
I spent last Tuesday morning sitting in an airport all alone, trying to stop crying. It’s almost funny how the things I was so worried about weren’t the problem – it was all the things I hadn’t seen coming. (Isn’t that always the way it works?) The unexpected always has a way of knocking us flat on our a…er, butt.
But time is a wonderful thing. I’m back home now, catching up on work and laundry and life. Things have mostly resolved themselves, maybe even for the better. (Except for the bumper of my truck, but that’s another story…)
I’ll share pictures I took with DSLR soon – I’m slowly learning how to use it, so some of the pictures should be interesting.
I did take lots of pictures with my iPhone, though. Here are some snapshots of the better parts of last week. Taking in a play at Ford’s Theater, touring the US Capitol, visiting the monuments at night, drinking Texas beer in the Chinatown area of DC, running the Color Run with friends, and having a wonderful afternoon all alone on a beautiful autumn afternoon. Oh, and crossing another item off the 30 Before 30 list! (hint: see the White House)
There have been lots of ups and downs in the past 12 days. But the ups wouldn’t be so sweet without the downs, right?
Here’s to the ups!
